Not a master
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
I know that I'm not a master
But it doesn't really matter
I got it done anyway
Care not what
The master might say
How did the master
Become a master
Where did they start
Who conferred that title
Another master per se?
To whom do I compare
Within the space of mastery?
Do I shrink in fear?
Masters looking down at me
A mere novice at this
Tarrying not for mastery
To be conferred on me
Doing what's in front of me
Step by step getting good at it
Knowing I'll get it done anyway
Practice makes progress, the quest is to constantly improve on previous proficiency not competing with others rather than seeking the validation of being called a master.
Mastery then becomes a personal journey and not a reason to withdraw from creativity out of a sense of inadequacy as a result of constant comparison.
For creativity to flow, there needs to be freedom of personal expression and a celebration of our uniqueness.
How can you embody your unique style of creation?
False Modesty
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
I, the one you fail to see
Cause I chose to filter me
Through a fog of mystery
Deny what was there for me
The truth of the boundless me
Afraid my own light would blind me
Obscured from those I'm to help see
The infinite wealth of you and me
If we were to lean into the notion of having access to a boundless reservoir of creativity and not get stuck on seeking perfection or become insecure from not measuring up, it opens up great creative possibilities.
There is a modesty of innocence, not yet seeing what others see in your creative output because you have come to normalise your creativity.
Then there is the false modesty of being aware of it but pretending not to be so others reinforce their compliments; in an attempt to "convince" you of it. That is an ego play.
Embracing your boundless potential as the conduit of creative energy opens up possibilities. See yourself as the source limits creative output to what you can cognitively conceive based on previous experience.
If we recognise ourselves as an expression of the one divine essence then being boundless creativity is a natural conclusion and gives us a license to be a unique expression of that without the need to conform.
People who are afraid of their light may seek to pull you down if you embrace your boundlessness, don't internalise your projections, and stay true to what is at work in you as it expands your impact in the world and makes it possible to serve more people.
Getting clear on who you are and why you are here will set you up with an anchor that stabilises you against the projection of others about who they think you should be
If you embraced your creative identity, what would that bring to your work?
I have a dream
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
I have a dream
The dream has me
Even death cannot stop
What I'm here for
When breath is gone
The dream lives on
As others inspiration
The dream of living out our destiny and fulfilling our mission can sustain us in challenging times.
When we share the gifts and messages we are here for; we inspire others to do the same.
Your dream is your life, by living, your dream will manifest.
Your dream will find ways to express itself. It may not be packed in a way we imagined but it cannot help being expressed through influencing and benefitting others.
Our dream may not come to full bloom in our lifetime, it may spread like wildfire after the fact of our being. That which is left in the lives of others becomes our lasting legacy.
We can do more and enjoy the experience of living our dream if we let go of any attachment to how and when of it and just share what we have through the energy of the passion we have for it. Energy is contagious, it cannot be contained.
Whatever we have shared, lives on in the lives of others and there is no telling how far it may go and how many generations deep the benefits will flow.
When you connect to your inner wisdom in the present moment your dream is the consistent drive that shows up. Trying to shut it down is an energy drain and it will prevent others from benefitting from it.
A question worth asking when what you are experiencing is not fulfilling is "Whose dream am I trying to manifest here?"
Deserving
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
I do deserve or
I do not deserve?
Who makes the rules?
Please do observe
Who gets to choose
Exactly what we deserve
It is of no one's preserve
Let's quit the rouse
And be as we are
No longer tied to deserving
Be open and curious about any conditioning that leaves you feeling not deserving or enough or both. They can only limit you, if you believe them to be true.
You are never too old to give energy to doing what your inspiration infuses.
The concept of deserving is a mind-made construct susceptible to human objectivity.
The universe provides its resources without discrimination. Whoever has the means and opportunity is welcome to partake. There is no concept of deserving.
If you are inspired then you are qualified to give form to it, there is no question of deserving to contend with. Others may have their opinions, but that is on them, don't let that stop you from being true to what wants to be birth of you.
The universe is choosing you to give form to what it has prepared as a blessing. Your role is to trust, receive and give it expression, That would be enough.
You can let go of all the mind constructed reasons why not, such as needing to be a master, needing to be perfect or deserving.
