Boiling The Sea
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
There was a man who wanted some tea
He set to work to boil the sea
Begging the sun to turn up the heat
Exasperated he sighed "This won't work for me"
What a load of bother for a cup of tea
There was a man who wanted some tea
Dipped his cup repeatedly into the sea
Boiled his pot by the side of the sea
Elated and refreshed sipping his cup of tea
With a cup in hand for one who sought to boil the sea
Be aware of the minds tendency to reach speedy conclusions when it hits the boundaries of its perception of feasibility. With a bit of SPACE, persistence and creativity. It is possible to reach a different conclusion.
Beware of those that claim that something is not possible, there is a good chance someone else is doing that very same thing somewhere else in the world, because they found a creative solution to the problem.
Working out the simplest way can often be the best way to solve a problem. Looking into the first principles that apply to the situation in question can yield answers that result in a break through. You can then work out how to scale that step to solve the bigger problem.
Looking at the smallest scale at which you can get results, creates momentum for solving bigger scale challenges. The principles can be taken and then scaled accordingly with persistence gained from knowing there is a way, you just need to find it.
We are often the last to know how much we are capable of until we are put in a position that seem so daunting but yet by breaking things down step by step we look back in retrospect and discover what we have accomplished that our minds had previously concluded was beyond our reach.
We often discount our abilities because it does not feel like hard work and we did not suffer in executing it while celebrating the same things in others.
When the mind is estimating the art of the possible, it can often take the extreme end of the challenge and create a sense of inadequacy and impending failure which kills enthusiasm and incites fatalism towards the project.
There is every chance that around the corner from the completion of that step lies a path for the next step, till we reach the outcome that once seemed so far out of reach.
A better approach is to ask the question, "what is the smallest step I can take that would result in progress?".
Late Living Present
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
Late to the party of reality
Fighting what is
Arguing my case
For what should be
Time spent hosting
The illusion of control
The gift of the present ignored
Entertaining imposters instead
The Past and the future
Not present
Surrendering instant access
To the truth of now
Reality as it is
For life to be lived
The mind is partial to ignoring the present moment and being pre-occupied with the past or future. In most case we are perfectly ok if the present moment is all the context that is being considered but the mind is able to sour that with regrets of the past that we can no longer affect or predictions of a worse future that may most likely not come to pass.
While our mind is busy time travelling we are missing out on the pleasure of being perfectly fine in this moment. When we become aware of this our best approach is to bring ourselves back to the present moment by asking ourselves, what is happening right now?
Living life always looking back in regret not only hinders enjoyment of what is good in the present moment, it also hinders opportunities to see and take opportunities for moving forward into new things that are aligned to a better quality of life.
Sometime people mirror back to you how you see yourself so you can gain perspective on how you see yourself. If you don't like it from the lips of another, don’t let is come from yours either. Yours is the voice your being believes the most.
How often does what you mind predict actually occur as imagined?
What a shame
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
Wouldn't it be a shame
To have a beautiful life
With parts of you rarely seen
Lurking in the shadows
Threatening to make an appearance
Throbbing and beating in anticipation
Full of promise, primed with abundant gifts
That which is authentically true to you
Yet it struggles to see the light of day
Shamed into silence, pushed into the shadows
Those to whom it has been sent, share in its bondage
Awaiting that faithful day when it will finally be let loose
To dispel the myth and bring freedom to these shores
Our concerns about what others would think of us and what we put out there can deter us from allowing our gift to flow. As long as we have no intention of harm and what we have to offer has the potential to serve others, we just go ahead.
You cannot seek to please everyone, those to whom you have been sent will receive the benefits. But that is only possible if you put it out there and create that possibility.
You cannot manage people's perception of you, they will think what they want based on factors that have more to do with them than you. Look after what you can control which using your being to give form to inspiration and sharing it how you are inspired to.
Even if you are inspired to do what others are already doing. There is a reason you have been chosen through inspiration, there are attributes you have that lend itself to its manifestation. There are those that will receive it best through your flavour of bringing it to life. It is to them that you have been sent.
There is no value in comparison as a means for determining how to show up. You do your best work when you give yourself permission to be uniquely you. Trying to be someone else or guided by other people's style will get in the way of you delivering your best.
What is unique about how you put your gifts to use?
Development
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
That which is seen
Developed in the dark
Celebrated in the light
That is the journey of art
Of which I played my part
A muse of universal splendour
Prolific describes the pleasure
Enjoyed in the dark
There is value in celebrating the hidden parts of the creative process that nobody gets to see, because without those moments and efforts the finished out would not could not have come into being. A child is developed in the dark of the womb before it is born into the world for all to see.
Our gifts and character are shaped away from the light so that we can be ready to handle the moments in the light. It is helpful to appreciate the values of those earlier stages in obscurity as they lay the foundation for a sustainable future under full glare of the world
The higher a tree will reach the longer nature takes to nurture and develop its roots. In a human context, you are more likely to spend more time in obscurity than in the light, but it does not make the latter any less significant because not much people see that part. The work done in preparing the roots is what allows it to withstand strong winds.
It is the quality and fit for purpose aspect of what is produced that matters not the amount of time it spends in the light. There is also the aspect of divine synchronised timing involved. Certain aspects of your gifts may be for a specific point in time, when the world needs and is ready for it to be revealed.
There is divine wisdom in allowing you to do your learning out of the glare of many.
Creators would benefit from rejoicing in the creative process and celebrate the privilege of being chosen to bring these works to life. We have been given these gifts to enjoy the process ourselves even if no one else is involved.
We do not need to know whom or when it is for to create, our role is to honour the inspiration and respond in creation to give it form and in its due season you will receive the signal to release it for its intended audience
It is easy to take our gifts for granted because it comes easily to us and we assume it may be so for others, but often we are hyper developed in the things that align with our purpose. We should appreciate what we have and make the most of it while it is flowing.
How can you enjoy the creative process that no one sees?
Co-creator
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
Creation groans, pregnant with possibility
Trapped in the realm of potent energy
Seeking expression through human synergy
Will you be the womb of flesh that says yes
For humanity to delight in its abundant feast
The experiences that we have had to date in our lives have infused us with a lot to give others if we recognise that we are enough and what we have to give is also enough. Nothing more is required but to give from what you have acquired.
We are created by a creative essence, and we are pregnant with creative possibilities looking for avenues of manifestation as a means of expression.
Our part as co-creator is to take the opportunities to give form to the creative inspiration so that those for whom it has been sent can experience and benefit from them.
You could be sent to create something that touches one life and that is no less significant than if it touches many more. The value of each life is infinite and you can make a world of difference to that one life.
Our being is needed to lend itself to the divine intention so that the divine will comes into manifestation to benefit another part of the divine creation. It could be our energy manifesting through our ears, voice, hands or feet to take part in the divine synergy of co-creation.
When you have been inspired to birth innovation, you would need to be receptive to it and trust enough to put it out there as a possibility with compelling evidence already present. You will then have to engage and persist the in the face of pessimism from those who do not believe it is possible due to lack of evidence or the presence of contrary evidence.
There is the perceived risk of the loss reputation if what you are presenting does not work but whatever happens you will know more than you ever will if you never try.
The more you put your gift to use the more it grow and the proficient you get and develop in confidence. As you continue to do this, then opportunities to be paid for that gift may open up. In some cases, you may have to ask for that.
Follow where the doors are opening and exercise that gift in its season.
