The Pathway
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
Moving from side to side
From uncertainty to certainty
From undesirable to desirable
Seeking the path to freedom
Soon back to where it all began
Energy-draining, life-sapping
Paradox and ambiguity nesting
In the path between
Noticing what's so disconcerting
At the very extremes
The beautiful lessons in every step
The result is the path
Making it worth travelling
We can become too focused on seeking our preference that we miss the gift of the journey itself.
Sometimes our circumstances constrain us to the path and invite us to trust the unknown anchored in the assurance that we are not alone in our circumstances.
If we are being bashed by the waves of circumstances, it might be more helpful to learn to ride the wave than expend ourselves fight it while acknowledging that it will pass.
The first step is to recognise the reality of how it is now, ask questions like "Do you want to move on?", "is there help available to do so?"
Before trying to change our circumstances, there is value in understanding what in us is being triggered by the situation that makes us want to change it.
While facing circumstances we would rather not, we discover that we are stronger than we thought and can handle more than we thought possible.
Our circumstances are in service of the evolution of our identity being grounded in the essence of who we are that cannot be destroyed
Circumstances are in service of our learning about ourselves, others and our anchor.
What lessons have you learned from challenging situations?
Entity
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
Identity
I 'D' entity
How I see
What I see
When I look
At the entity
Known as me
When I say I
That's the one
To whom I refer
I the entity
Identified as me
Tell me
What do you see
When you observe
This entity
Known as me
I the entity
You see
Labels come in
Handy
Pointing
While trying
To nail it
But do you
Know me?
Do I know me?
The entity
Infront of you
Beyond Form
Beyond Mind
Beyond separation
Roles
Results
Relationships
Recognised features
I the entity
You the entity
We the entity
The one least
Seen
The identity
Of the One
Of which I
Am an entity
Our sense of identity can change from day to day when we face different challenges.
The society aims to define our sense of worth and belonging through our roles, results, relationships or physical features.
Stability comes from identifying with the part of us that transcends and anchors all these and is stable through all the transitions found in all the other criteria.
Separating your sense of worth from opinion and performance and being grounded in unconditional love creates a great foundation for resilience.
We can surrender our true identity and authenticity while seeking love from others.
It is a lifelong journey to discover the essence of our identity as one that is constant and stable anchored in the immoveable.
Identifying with awareness/spirit gives us the safest place from which to ground our spirituality and identify with the expression of religion that resonates the most.
We are connected, made from the same essence.
Which aspect of yourself do you most identify with?
Sky Painting
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
The universe painted the sky
With colours so pure
Filled with hues so deep
Framed it all for us to see
A message so clear
Silently whispering
I Love You
In every scene
Take the time to appreciate the beauty in nature, it is there to be enjoyed.
Way up there the sun and moon combine with the clouds to assure us they have our back.
The sky communicates to us the message we need to see.
Nature is here on your side, no need to try and control it.
Look outside now, what beauty do you seek in the sky?
Nature Paints
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
Nature paints the best pictures
How they all blend so beautifully
Interplaying off each other
Amazing to think
They are all made
From the same essence
Showing up
As nature needs it to be.
Nature went out of its way to create a diversity of colour out of the spectrum of light to reflect the beauty that results from it.
That same diversity is reflected in humanity, creating such variety for us to experience and celebrate.
The mind reads difference as a potential danger so could resist embracing diversity, but we can ascend that to embrace everyone as part of a whole that is much richer for its diversity all created in the wisdom of the universe.
Nature is there to teach us how to be when we get out of our concrete jungles and make contact with our original surroundings.
Nature can teach us how to flow in a way that honours our natural rhythm and brings out the best in us.
How can you connect with nature today?
Law Problem
By Frank Bolaji Irawo
There are those laws of nature
They carry consequences
When you go against them
They are non-discriminating
That is why they are called laws
Don't much care for reputations
They dutifully do what they do
That’s what they are there for
We have a problem, if we don't
Get the results we want
An invitation to find out which law
We have tried to run roughshod over
We can huff, we can puff
It won't change
It's just doing what it always does
Till you pay it the respect it deserves
So natural order is restored
That’s why it's called a law
Sometimes when we reach for blame, the situation is not personal, there is a law of cause and effect at play and once we learn what it is, we can respect and work with it so it serves us and does not cause us further pain.
Not everything needs fixing, nature has a death and life cycle built into it that needs respecting.
We can respectfully learn from nature and take our lead from it rather than insist it is there to serve us and then complain when we experience the consequences of our abuse.
We are mere tourists on earth, we should aim to leave it better than when we arrived.
What can you do today to work with nature and not against it?
