Building Blocks

Building Blocks

By Frank Bolaji Irawo

My tools

My blocks

That build the frame

That fills them in

The ones I choose

The ones not used

Well-worn or so new

From neglect or abuse

They serve me

They serve you

But often don't offer

The same view

Some lay languished

Some lay bruised

Faithfully they try

To reflect what lies within

The stories they tell

Sometimes enlighten

Sometimes confuse

For few can agree

Whose well-worn path

The trail leads

The one who lays it

Or one who treads it

The picture, the painting

The canvas, the frame

All constructed

From these words I use
