Cupped Ears

Cupped Ears

By Frank Bolaji Irawo

It cupped its ears

Like one listening

While glistening in the sun

It was not for words

That it was beckoning

But to be understood

As one of us

It sought not fancy words

Nor high brow conversation

Just exquisite beauty

To be seen and taken in

Beauty beyond words

Appreciated within the void

The colour the spaces

The curves, the straight places

The parts, the whole

The wonder of it all

Observed and assimilated

By all the many senses

Celebration of the diversity

Of the one and same thing

Me, you, it and all
