One Step Ahead

Tried to be the smartest ever

The thought leader

To know all there is to be known

And that's even before I’ll enter the room

Still staring at that door

Couldn’t bring myself to venture in

Just needed to do the benign

Probably done by millions before

Gaps in my knowledge needing filling

Just needed someone who has been there before

One step ahead would have sufficed

To fill in the gaps to get in the room
