Pain

Pain

By Frank Bolaji Irawo

Pain, pain, pain

Oh that you would be gone

Never again to darken my door

Drained by all the avoiding

Exhausted from all the fighting

In deep slumber, I hear its voice

Why must I the enemy be

What unbeknownst havoc to be wrecked

If ever you were left to your own devices

The damage to you and those you love

Collateral damage left in your wake

All because you no longer feel me

To catch your attention

To cause you to reflect

To listen and decipher what needs adjusting

To provide vivid assurance you are still alive

These do ponder

When next you bid me gone
