Prison

Prison

By Frank Bolaji Irawo

Caught in a Prison of my own making

Erected with bars of my own design

No obvious way out

The original intent to protect me

Now conspires to constrain me

Hostage to that which was meant to preserve me

Living under the sentence of its blackmail

Afraid to reveal its ploy to the world

Thriving only possible through freedom

From this persistent tyranny

Reframing this scene to a new reality

Where fear no longer terrorises me

Firing up brain cells to mobilise positive energy

Signaling the chance to grow instead

Getting curious about what triggers me

Fact-checking elaborate tales of impending travesty

Mitigating true concerns

To feel the fear and press through

To serve the world from a place of liberty
