Mind The Virtual Reality
The mind is constantly generating thoughts that are obscuring what we desire to experience as awareness. The mind is designed to keep us safe not make us happy. It can’t distinguish between real or imagined danger, assuming the unfamiliar is dangerous. The emotions you experience watching a scary film are sufficient proof. I have experienced anger, fear, disappointment, stress based on something my mind fabricated that was later found to have no basis in reality!

Resistance is futile
The subconscious mind records everything you give your focus to and cannot interpret logic that you have connected to that focus. Trying to control your thinking by fighting them requires you to focus on them, signaling to the brain that it should keep recreating that pattern. If there is a particular song you can’t stand but you are continually exposed to it, your subconscious mind assimilates it and you find yourself humming it?

Go higher, See Clearer
We experience external circumstances based on our internal state. One minute I love my life and the next I feel like a failure, but my circumstances haven’t changed, just my thinking about it. When you become aware your mind is creating an unpleasant experience from what is happening, observe the mind's activity without being attached. Like ripples on the surface of a body of water that comes and goes, it eventually subsides.

Creating a self, the dangers, and its defense
You never really had a clue which 1 is you
Give the voice of your mind a name. Observe it while it makes up its stories, giving meaning and explaining, fabricating, judging.
Write down the stories (e.g. Gerry said “….”) and reflect on what is true for you.
