When The Earth Moved

When The Earth Moved

By Frank Bolaji Irawo

The earth must have moved

Though I know not when

Not a tremor was felt

Or earthquake endured

The wide crack in the brick

Gently whispering to me

Would I lie to you

That the earth moved?

Was it at the crack of dawn,

The height of noon

Or while the sunset

When the earth moved?

No further from discovery

Such a baffling mystery

Like when the delicate shoot

Split the pave in two

Finally, the brick gave it up

Imperceptible was each one

Missing all my radars

When the earth moved

Shift after shift barely seen

The harder I looked

The less I did see

Of when the earth moved

Great thing this hindsight

The window through which

To see just how much

My world has moved
